Facsimile Numbers [28.06.06]

Why do some lorries and vans put their fax numbers on the side. What on earth is the rationale? Do they think that someone, whilst driving down the M1, will take the time to write it down, then send them an 80s style fax once they get to the office?.
And come to that, why do some people still use http:// when prefixing their company's web address.
Get into the 21st century.
