prego* girls do the Leeds Abbey Dash [26.12.06]

Abbey Dash

By Sally Jellicoe

After 3 months of intensive training – after work 2 nights a month, the prego girls completed the Leeds 10km Abbey Dash on Sunday 26th December..

Hannah ‘The Hare’ Cawthray first came up with the idea to take part in the run with Sally ‘She don’t dally’ Jellicoe, Rowan ‘Go Ro Go’ Howe, and Bex ‘Run, Forrest, Run’ Forrest wasting no time in agreeing to join in - mainly for the opportunity to run round the streets of Otley in fluorescent workman’s jackets and secondly to raise money for charity.

All of the girls successfully completed the race without stopping within their target times. The charity chosen was the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity which supports families with terminally ill children. The grand total the prego* girls managed to raise was a whopping £697.50 and they would like to say a big thank you to all of those who sponsored them (and Hannah’s mum for the well earned refreshments afterwards!)

After the race was completed all four of the girls agreed that this was to be their first and last run they ever compete in. However within a couple of hours Go Ro Go suggested competing in the Leeds Half Marathon in May, to which every one said yes† – will they do it??? Watch this space!!! (and also around Otley for 4 girls in fluorescent workman jackets).

† prego* girls would like to notify everyone in advance that they will be asking/hounding for sponsorship come next April
